Circulation Pathways and Exports of Arctic River Runoff Influenced by Atmospheric Circulation Regimes

چکیده
River runoff supplies the Arctic Ocean with a large amount of freshwater and land-derived material, so it is important for both physical biogeochemical marine environment. In this study, we used wind perturbation simulations to elucidate response circulation pathways exports river different atmospheric regimes. Specifically, perturbations representing negative positive phases Oscillation Beaufort High modes were imposed over separately in sensitivity experiments. addition, some combinations two also considered By comparing these experiments control simulation, revealed impact perturbations. The regimes influence surface geostrophic currents through changing halosteric height, which associated changes spatial distribution freshwater. runoff, Pacific Atlantic derived waters are mainly determined by currents. Arctic circulation regimes
Between 1948 and 1996, mean annual environmental parameters in the Arctic experienced a well-pronounced decadal variability with two basic circulation patterns: cyclonic and anticyclonic alternating at 5 to 7 year intervals. During cyclonic regimes, low sea-level atmospheric pressure (SLP) dominated over the Arctic Ocean driving sea ice and the upper ocean counterclockwise; the Arctic atmospher...
متن کاملEstimation and Analysis of Caspian Region's Future Rainfalls by Using General Atmospheric Circulation Models.
In recent years, the severe fluctuations in precipitation have affected various parts of the country. On the southern coasts of the Caspian Sea, precipitation as one of the important climatic parameters has undergone changes due to global climate change. In the present study, we tried to evaluate the effect of climate change on rainfall in this region by applying a suitable model. In this study...
متن کاملWinter atmospheric circulation and river discharge in northwest Europe
[1] More frequent western atmospheric circulation over Europe results in increased precipitation in winter, and could result in increasing river discharges. We made a quantitative assessment of the impact of variation in atmospheric circulation, defined by the frequency of western circulation in the Großwetterlagen classification system and the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) index, on variati...
متن کاملAtmospheric circulation patterns which promote winter Arctic sea ice decline
The impact of winter atmospheric blocking over the Ural Mountains region (UB) coincident with different phases of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) on the sea ice variability over the Barents and Kara Seas (BKS) in winter is investigated. It is found that the UB in conjunction with the positive phase of the NAO (NAOþ) leads to the strongest sea ice decline. During this phase composites and t...

active facilitation. It might also be argued that the drug was operating on consolidation processes. Since it is generally assumed that consolidation is a progressive stabilization of a memory trace over time, our data suggest that this labile phase of memory lasts for at least 5 days. That there was a trend toward facilitation in the LD(l) group supports this contention. The same trend, howeve...
